Barry Stimpson, Partner, Holman Fenwick Willan
Barry is a partner at Holman Fenwick Willanís Singapore office. He has over 14 years’ experience handling international trade disputes, particularly oil and gas, offshore, transport and insurance disputes. He is qualified to practice in the English, Hong Kong and Australian Courts and has extensive experience of arbitrations and mediations with various international arbitration bodies including the ICC, LCIA, LMAA, GAFTA, HKIAC and SIAC. Barry is a regular speaker at client and industry seminars, particularly in the oil and gas and offshore industry. He is a member of the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand, the Singapore Maritime Arbitrators' Association and is a former member of the Hong Kong Maritime Law Association.
Chanaka Kumarasinghe, Senior Associate, Holman Fenwick Willan
Chanaka previously worked in London with Holman Fenwick Willan and he is now based in their Singapore office. He has worked on various commercial disputes, which range from claims under various offshore agreements, to claims under business interruption, to WELCAR insurance policies, to shipyard claims. He has also advised on the negotiation and drafting of building and outfitting contracts for jack-ups and semi submersibles; on conversion contracts for FPSOs; and on numerous offshore supply of services agreements. He has particular experience in dealing with shipyard work having dealt with various matters for Singapore shipyards since 2000. He read law at the University of Warwick (LLB (Hons)) and at Robinson College, Cambridge (LLM). He is called to the Bar of England & Wales and the Singapore Bar and is admitted to the Solicitors roll of England & Wales.
Simon Sloane, Partner, Holman Fenwick Willan
Simon is a Partner and heads up the Insurance and Reinsurance Group at Holman Fenwick Willan Singapore, specialising in complex, cross-border dispute resolution including multi-million dollar mining and energy claims. He has nearly 20 years experience in all areas of insurance and reinsurance law, acting for insureds, insurers, brokers, intermediaries and reinsurers. His practice combines expert legal knowledge with business acumen and he has had direct experience of working within the insurance industry as in-house counsel in both the US and the UK. He is identified in the Asia-Pacific Legal 500 in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and Chambers Asia 2008/2009 and Chambers Global 2009 as an insurance specialist.
Paul Dean, Partner, Holman Fenwick Willan
Paul has been a partner in Holman Fenwick Willan's London office for 10 years. He specialises in marine and offshore, focussing mainly on dispute resolution arising from charterparties, bills of lading, shipbuilding, rig disputes, collisions, fire and explosion, salvage, general average, groundings, total loss, towage, seismic and limitation. He is also head of the firm's personal injury practice. Paul is a member of the Indian Maritime Association in the UK and a member of the Marine Personnel Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce. He is regularly quoted in the press, covering issues such as 'Risks in the Offshore Industry' and 'Exclusion of Consequential Damages in Offshore Contracts' and is identified in the legal directories as one of the leading individuals in his field.
